This year in the Raven’s class…

The Bell Creek Homeschool Enrichment Program is a unique option for the many homeschool families in Whatcom County. This program presents a great opportunity to focus on socialization, teamwork, problem solving, and building a connection with nature. All programs are 100% outdoors, rain or shine, allowing children to be fully immersed in nature as they explore, play, and learn.

This program is built upon a student-led approach to learning. The class themes are chosen by our nature enrichment leaders while week-to-week activities are influenced by the many interests of the group. All classes are designed to encourage and foster creativity, curiosity, independence, confidence and fun! The social aspect of our time in the forest is just as important as the learning content. In addition to daily themed activities and projects, there is an unstructured, free-flowing aspect to all of our classes. We know that free time in nature can be extremely empowering for children and is one of the best ways to inspire their imagination! Our philosophy is based on respect for peers, teachers, self, and nature – all of the plants and animals that we share the forest with. We consider ourselves guests in the forest and are thankful for the many learning opportunities that nature offers.

For the 2025-26 school year we’ll be offering the following class:

Thursdays 10:30am-3:15pm

This class is all about enjoying the great outdoors with new friends! What better way to build friendships than in the forest?! If your child loves to run and dance through the forest, learn about plants and animals, climb trees, and explore this is the class for them! Based on interests of the students, activities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Making new friends!
  • Wildlife games
  • Storytelling
  • Exploring the Nooksack River
  • Local Ecosystems, Habitats, and Life Cycles
  • Hiking and swimming
  • Wildcrafting
    • Nature crafts and natural art, wild foraging and cooking, nature awareness, homesteading and gardening, stewardship and native land knowledge
  • Bushcraft and Wilderness Survival
    • Wood carving, primitive skills & games, shelter building, fire making, animal tracking, plant identification

2025-2026 Ravens Class Details

  • Daily Schedule: Thursdays 10:30am-3:15pm
  • Dates: September 4th, 2025-May 28th, 2026.
    • There will be no class on November 26th during our Fall break
    • No classes December 18th-January8th for Winter break
    • No class April 9th for our Spring break
  • Yearly Tuition: $1,980 (monthly payments available)
    • Fall Session only (September-December): $875 – 14 classes
    • Spring Session only (January – May): $1,175 – 19 classes
